F-Zero 2

Posted by on October 18, 2012

Your thinking, what? F-Zero 2? There was no F-Zero 2. This is true but there was a version called BS F-Zero Grand Prix 1 and 2 that was released for download on the Satellaview (On the Super Famicom) in Japan.  This was made to be a sequel to the super addictive SNES game which we unfortunately never got here, but now you can get on reproduction cart to play on the SNES.  Being a huge F-Zero fan I just had to check out the 2nd game that we didn’t get here.

The game features a new set of tracks called the Ace League and 15 tracks from the original F-Zero game.

Here is the vehicle selection screen.  The vehicles have a new design and new names, but they are essentially the same as before.

First track in the Ace League is Mute City IV, the music for the tracks is the same as they were in F-Zero 1, except Sand Storm is the same as Sand Ocean.

Check out that course map there’s some tricky turns in here!

And lots of speed boosts too!

Next up is Big Blue II

Once again lots of super sharp turns and jumps you have to make sure to line up right or you are a goner!

Sand Storm I reminds me a lot of Sand Ocean but harder.  Probably because I don’t have the whole track memorized yet!

Super tough 90 degree turns, so you have to be careful and use your boosts very carefully or you will be like a pinball!

Course 4 is Silence II

This game sure loves it’s super tight turns!  and this track has 2 crazy minefields in it too!

So far this is as far as I’ve gotten, but as soon as I get further I’ll post some more screenshots and a video of the gameplay!

  1. Radical Dreamers is another game that was on Satellaview, I’ve read that it ties with one of the Greatest RPGs, Chrono Trigger. The Gameplay clips I’ve watched of Radical Dreamers reminds me alot of a Choose-Your-Own book, where the entire game is just reading with some animation pictures in the background. At the end of each ‘page’, there are a list choices to do what to do next.
Considering RD was available on Satellaview, its all in Japanese, so there are some translations into English out there for this game if your into Emulation.

Another game for SNES, was Star Fox 2. The thing about SF2 is that it has been canceled (unsure what were the reasons for that), but I’ve heard later after its cancellation it was leaked as a Rom file on the web. Never really looked into that, but seen some pretty neat video clips of this game.

Didn’t realize though there was a F-Zero 2 that was on Satellaview, pretty neat though that we now can find out what was out on Super Famicom. F=Zero 2 looks kinda like Star Fox 2, a lot of it looks the same as there first games, but yet there’s a lot of it being different.

    Thanks for Sharing :)
