Mario Comics

Posted by on August 23, 2012

Thought it would be cool to show off some of the awesome Super Mario Brothers comics I got as a kid.  These both came out in 1990 just as Super Mario Bros. 3 was released in North America, it was definitely one of the coolest stocking stuffers I’ve ever received!

The stories inside aren’t just based on the game storylines, but they use the power ups and the characters you saw in the game.  This issue features the raccoon tail and the residents of the Mushroom Kingdom.

Here we get to see Bowser and Dry Bones, along with Luigi in the Bowser Suit.

In a different part of the comic there is a different story, and this time it shows off Mario in his tanooki suit and Luigi looking quite classy in a real suit!

In the other book we also get to take a peak at Bowser’s high school yearbook along with comments written on the pages.

Then this comic has Princess Toadstool and her father the King of the Mushroom Kingdom.

The stories in the comic are kind of cheesy, but it’s awesome how they use the characters and power ups from the games.  It really has charm and if you get a chance to pick up any of the issues definitely go for it.  If anything it will put a grin on your face!

  1. WOW!! That is amazing and lucky u have them . :D

  2. those comic books are so cool. i’m jealous. i had a whole punch of those Nintendo choose your own adventure books when I was a kid, but they are lost to time.

  3. Awesome post, I have the limited edition hard cover of these. Its so funny to read now as the language they used was so 90′s slang and a lot of references to the time it was written.

  4. Awesome! i still have a good amount of these old mario comics, ill have to dig them up now and bring them up on our show. My favorite is still the one where the king gets his mattress stolen! The best scene is when he is cranky from his lack of sleep and pours hot coffee on Luigi’s lap! Priceless. . .
